What is design? Some might think that design is laying things out, choosing colors and fonts, or making something look beautiful, but it is much more than that.
I say that design is communication. It is understanding the problem and crafting a solution that overcomes it and to be able to do that a designer must be listening. Listening to the customer, listening to the data, listening to the business, so that you can create a design that solves the problem and is easily understood by others. The first step to good design is good communication.
Design is not just about making things beautiful, it is about communicating with people to create things that are usable, intuitive, and powerful.
