Luman Harris Park
Luman Harris Park, which is located off Pineywood Road on Park Street, is approximately one quarter-mile south of Tarrant Road and one mile north of the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and Pineywood Road at the Southern boundary of the city. Named for Gardendale native and former Atlanta Braves manager, Luman Harris, the park is home to Raymond G Doss Playground of Miracles, and the Miracle League field. Pineywood Baptist Church is located directly across the street from the Park.
Miracle League Baseball
The Mayor and City Council have proposed that Pate Field at Luman Harris Park (named after dedicated Parks and Recreation Board member, Mrs. Jennie Pate) become the new Miracle League Field. The expansive 15,900 square foot baseball field is impeccably suited for athletes with special requirements and is part of the larger national organization that works to provide opportunities for all children to play baseball, regardless of any physical limitations. The Gardendale Miracle League is thrilled to announce the Raymond G. Doss Playground of Miracles is now open! Come experience this handicapped accessible playground, made possible by the generous support of our community. From dream to reality, we thank everyone who contributed to making this special playground a reality!
